The Colorado CPCU Society has branded 2018 as the year “Where Knowledge Meets Networking.” For our March Ethics Awareness event we expanded our outreach in the insurance community by offering a creative presentation that focused on “Ethics in Disruptive Technologies and Innovations.”
Embracing our leadership in the community, the Chapter co-sponsored the event with the University of Colorado Denver Risk Management and Insurance Program and the Business School’s Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative. This event not only exemplified the Chapter’s commitment to ethics, but solidified our partnership with industry interest groups that share our belief in ethical business practices and insurance education. Held at UC Denver Business School, the event attracted a diverse group of 60 insurance, legal, and business professionals, as well as CPCU members, industry partners, and GIS and RMI Students. Our chapter visibility was expanded by partner’s membership advertisement. Further value was added, as the event was approved by Colorado, Texas and Wyoming for ethics Continuing Education credits.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Linda Fried, JD, LLM, MBA, a Professor of Ethics, Law, Technology, and Information Systems at the University of Colorado Denver, presented on the ethical implications of technology, innovation, and disruption on the insurance industry, business enterprises, and consumers. Specifically, she focused on artificial intelligence, driverless vehicles, block-chain technology, and cloud-based data collection. Dr. Fried’s presentation was thought provoking and extremely engaging. After the presentation, our guests continued the conversation by attending a catered networking event at the University and then a happy hour at The Rhein Haus Brewery in the heart of downtown Denver.
The Colorado Chapter is very proud of this year’s March Ethics accomplishment. Our innovative approach toward ethics attracted young industry professionals and cemented our excellent reputation in the overall insurance community. We are especially proud of our partnership with the students of RMI and GIS, as well as, the University of Colorado Denver. We look forward to more Networking and Knowledge activities in 2018.
