Colorado CPCU Society Chapter -
Where Knowledge Meets Networking!
Happy March Madness and St. Patrick’s Day!
The Colorado CPCU Society Chapter is off and running into the New Year, and we invite you to run along with us. We have coined 2018 as the year, “Where Knowledge Meets Networking!” Our goal is to offer members and industry partners the opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and to meet, greet and network.
As you may already know, we are experimenting with a new 2018 schedule by hosting networking events on a bimonthly basis. This developed organically, as we began to experiment and accommodate a mix of members in the Greater Denver area. While we will still offer luncheons, we have expanded are networking opportunities to also include afternoon and happy hour events. As we continue to innovate, partner, and explore ways to attract a larger audience, we appreciate your feedback on how this may work for you, and for the Colorado CPCU Society Chapter as a whole.
We had an excellent January lunch meeting with record attendance that focused on Reefer Risk Management. Our next member meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 3:20 p.m. The topic is “Innovation, Disruption, Technology and Ethics.” We are partnering with UC Denver Business School, the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative, and UC Denver Risk Management and Insurance Program. We hope for an equally outstanding attendance. The event will offer one Ethics credit for CO, WY, and TX; be sure to join us afterwards for a happy hour at Rhein Haus in Larimer Square.
We are planning a May luncheon meeting on Tuesday, May 15, so please save the date and stay tuned.
Industry partnerships continue to be of great importance to the Chapter. We have renewed our great partnership with RMIIA by supporting their P&C Day at the Capitol, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. We encourage you to attend this great event to network with your industry peers and legislators. We have also partnered with the Travelers Institute in their nationwide public service focus on Disrupting Distraction, Every Second Matters. Their wonderful event will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the University of Colorado Denver. The Travelers Institute invites all Colorado CPCU members to join for dinner to hear the latest data and research regarding this important matter.
Another aspect of 2018 has been an evaluation of our education insurance offerings. With the changing nature of the industry, we at the Colorado CPCU Society Chapter have decided to get back to the basics. As such, our class offerings will be more limited in scope and only focus on CPCU designation courses. Our goal is to offer classes for the more difficult CPCU courses. If you have any feedback regarding this, please let us know.
Thank you for your membership and support of the Colorado Chapter. If you would like to become more involved and to boost your skillset, we still have several board positions available. As the industry changes and becomes more dynamic, we hope to attract board members who can meet these challenges. Please contact me directly at Barbara.Sidwell@ucdenver.edu if you are interested in lending your talents to our great Colorado Chapter!
